Envisioning Women’s Places Online: Curation of a Digital Exhibition

Curation of a Digital Exhibition
Play Video

My presentation will detail the experience of creating the online exhibition Envisioning Women’s Places, and will introduce some of the technical aspects of online curation as opposed to curation of physical exhibits. It will consider the advantages and disadvantages of online exhibitions, in particular in relation to early photography of women. For example, the accessibility of an online exhibition has led to a women’s history researcher contacting us with new information, while the adaptability of working online has enabled us to update the exhibition in response to this. The presentation will include some reflection on incorporating digital exhibitions in a future exhibitions programme alongside physical exhibits. The presentation will include some images / footage from the online exhibition.
